Today was the Deployment Ceremony for Michael's unit, the 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division of the Stryker Brigade (5/2 ID (SBCT), based out of Fort Lewis, WA. The speeches were stirring and patriotic, along with inspiring the troops to fulfill their mission in Afghanistan. We heard from Brigadier General Jeff Mathis III and Colonel Harry Tunnell IV, listened to the Army band play patriotic songs, and joined the unit chaplain in praying for the soldiers and the families they leave behind for this mission. It was interesting to hear that the 5/2 ID (SBCT) is one of the newest units with the most advanced weapons and technology used by a ground combat formation in history, or anywhere in the world today. Their digital network connects all ground troops to each other and to air support for supreme battle command and minimal fratricide. They have more than 100 soldiers fluent in Arabic and 50 in Pashtu. They have trained hard for this deployment and are ranked as a supreme combat formation, ready to fight and win under any conditions, against any enemy, anywhere in the world! As part of the 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment "Blackhawks," Michael will be traveling with a great group! Prayers for all our soldiers' safety and peace of mind for their families are welcome!
Is Christmas Over Already? Oh, what a month it's been! Filled with family and friends, Parties seemingly without end, Oh, what a month it's been!
Oh, so many reasons to worry! Do all the shopping, hurry, hurry! Then the weather strikes with a fury, Oh, so many reasons to worry!
Oh, see the Babe in the manger! He came for us all, each one a stranger, Slow down, relax, He's the Arranger, Oh, see the Babe in the manger!
@ copyright 2008 Too Soon or Too Late? So the boys each have a little girl; Our only girl now has her boy. It seems all should be right with the world And our lives filled to the brim with joy.
So sweet and fresh, innocent and young The grandchildren fill our hearts with love. But we have to learn to hold our tongue When our own kids need a good shove!
Here's something I need to know: When does childrearing end? At what point do our kids grow, Mature and become our friends?
I see the beginning of the truth: Maturity, growth, responsibility, Have little to do with degrees of youth More dependent on individuality.
We all grow up at our own rate, We are all the Masters of our own fate, We learn to love, we learn to hate, We choose the wide or the narrow gate. Who else can say: too soon or too late? We all grow up at our own rate.
